Kristin Almquist has over 13 years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker with a strong focus on Collaborative Problem-Solving and personalized client care. Kristin specializes in working with children who have experienced Anxiety, Depression, Trauma (Compound and Complex), Post-Traumatic Stress, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, separation and divorce issues, behavioral dysregulation, attentional and impulsivity issues, sensory problems, and disruptions in attachment. She has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child-centered Directive and Non-directive Play Therapies, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family therapy and Parent and Child Group therapies.
Concurrently, she provides developmental education for parents and caregivers and teaches them coping and parenting strategies as needed to fit their child’s and family’s needs. Kristin includes families and caregivers as part of her therapeutic approach because she believes that healing and true positive connections between children and their parents/caregivers helps build healthier relationships which makes children happier, more optimistic, and more intrinsically motivated to heal and make lasting change.
