Katelynn Shimanski (she/her) is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Augsburg University, having earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato, in July 2024. She is a pre-licensed therapist practicing under supervision as she completes her doctoral training and works toward independent licensure. Katelynn has experience providing outpatient therapy to adolescents and adults, supporting clients with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, self-confidence, ADD/ADHD, and trauma. She is passionate about working with a diverse range of clients, including older adults and individuals navigating cognitive changes such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Katelynn welcomes clients from all backgrounds and identities and is committed to creating a therapeutic space that is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in respect.
Katelynn’s approach to therapy is rooted in empathy and collaboration. She strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. Her work is deeply person-centered, honoring each client’s unique experiences, values, and goals. Katelynn primarily draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a strong emphasis on client-centered, whole-person care. Outside of her clinical work, Katelynn enjoys exploring state and national parks, collecting National Park Service passport stamps, visiting museums, and relaxing with a good book.
