Jennifer L. Engel
MA, LMFT (She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
Child & Family Therapist

Jennifer's initial career was as a grade school teacher working with kids and families around education. Her desire to give kids more than they could get in an academic setting, drove her to pursue a degree where she could effectively utilize her knowledge of child development, family systems, and social emotional learning and affect positive change in the lives of kids and families in a more direct way.
Jennifer completed her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jennifer also has a graduate certificate in culturally relevant teaching which she states has been one of the most valuable competencies for her when approaching clients of different family backgrounds and cultural diversities. She has a Master's in Education from Hamline University and she continues to provide national training for the American Federation of Teachers. Additionally, she has a certificate in Cognitive Training and is pursuing completion of her TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) certificate.
Jennifer describes herself as a relational therapist and believes that healing and growth happen through connection—both within ourselves and in our relationships with others. She is trained in DC: 0-5, meaning she has specific competency with developmental disorders of infancy and early childhood and she enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, specializing in supporting children and adolescents.
With a foundation in systems theory and attachment-based practices, Jennifer approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. She works to create a safe and inclusive space where clients can explore patterns, strengthen relationships, and develop greater emotional awareness and resilience. In her work with children and teens, she focuses on building trust, understanding developmental needs, and supporting emotional expression. She partners closely with caregivers to create more connected and responsive family systems. For couples and families, she helps them navigate conflict, improve communication, and repair emotional bonds.
Whether she's working with an individual exploring identity, a teen navigating anxiety, or a family in transition, her goal is to support each client in moving toward greater authenticity, connection, and well-being. When she is not working, Jennifer enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
